Costa Rican lawyer with 20+ years of professional experience. Specializing in digital law and international disputes. Managing Partner of ECIJA in Costa Rica.
I studied Law at the University of Costa Rica in the early 2000s, where I later taught International Contracts and Private International Law for more than seven years. From the start of my career I focused on litigation and arbitration, and in 2012, after completing my master's degree at Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, I decided to deepen my specialization in digital law. I trained in data protection at UNED and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, both in Spain.
Since 2005 I have practiced commercial arbitration both as counsel and arbitrator, and I am recognized as one of the most frequently appointed arbitrators in Costa Rica. In 2014 I founded Expertis Legal, a firm I led and expanded across Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. In 2018, Expertis Legal was absorbed by the Spanish firm ECIJA, where I served as Managing Director for Latin America until 2022, when I refocused on my practice and the direction of ECIJA Costa Rica.
I have been writing and participating regularly in the media for twenty years — in outlets such as Nuestra Voz, El Financiero, and 7 Días. Since 2026 I write the column Juicios Impropios in La Nación. In 2025 I published Lugares donde No Estuvimos, my first collection of short stories, released by Editorial ABYAD in Costa Rica. Available on Amazon and at Librería Internacional.
My academic interests focus on arbitration, technology, international law, and public policy — fields I combine with a keen interest in literature and contemporary culture.
